It sold 148 of its exquisite models in the region between January and November, compared with 100 in the corresponding period of 2007.

Enrico Maffeo, Director of Sales and Customer Service, told a news conference held to mark the opening of Lamborghini’s first Oman showroom in Muscat.

The occasion coincided with the launch in the country of the Gallardo LP 560-4, the latest model from the Italian company.

Worldwide sales during the period, Maffeo said, grew by two per cent - to 2,274 from 2,230, achieved, he stressed, in spite of the economic turmoil.

He said the company’s dealer network around the world would expand to 121 by the end of this year from 107 in 2007.

The new Muscat showroom has been designed in line with Lamborghini’s corporate identity and includes a ‘catwalk’ to display its iconic cars.

“We are very proud to open our new showroom and to have the opportunity to formally reveal the new Gallardo LP 560-4 to our clients in Muscat at the same time,” Shaikh Dr. Adil bin Said Al Shanfari, Vice-Chairman and CEO of local dealers Al Shanfari Group of Companies, said.

“We are delighted to represent Lamborghini in the region and look forward to 2009, with new Lamborghini products on display in our new facilities,” he added.
