The opening of the $15 million, 120,760-square foot training facility — LG’s sixth in the world — follows the recent opening of the technology company’s regional office in May, further highlighting LG’s continued commitment to the UAE, which it considers key for its operations in the region.
The centre was unveiled by LG Chief Executive Officer for MEA K.W. Kim and Chief Human Resources Officer Peter Stickler.
LG’s MEA Learning Centre is composed of various facilities, including tailored training rooms, workshops, lounges and officer. It has the capacity to train up to 175 people, and is seen to serve up to 5,000 people annually.
“The Learning Centre is the culmination of years of planning and development,” said Kim, adding that the facility also aims to inspire LG’s employees to maximise their potentials.
The Seoul-based company — which has been in the region since 1988 — presently employs more than 1,900 people in 78 markets across the MEA region, with the Learning Centre at Jafza giving opportunites to over 200 people.
“The LG MEA Learning Centre is a major long-term investment into elevating the knowledge and skill sets of LG employees and our partners across the MEA [region],” Kim said.
LG sees the MEA region as “deeply unique and diverse,” Kim said, and “LG’s existing learning centres across the world are not able to satisfy the strong emphasis we place on training and development here.”
“This new centre will help bring the best practice training and international standards to all our partners and employees, enhancing leadership skills and raising the levels of knowledge and customer service across the region,” he concluded.
The latest branch is the second branch of the company at Sahara Centre and one of the eight branches opened in the UAE this year, the exchange house said in a statement
