The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Boumelha, vice-chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation, and Yusuffali M.A., managing director of the Lulu Group.

As per the MoU, Lulu will issue shopping cards in different denominations to the foundation and they will distribute these to needy people who can shop from any Lulu hypermarket in the UAE. This is the seventh year such a joint initiative is being carried out.

Yusuffali said: “This is an honour for us to be able to be part of such a noble cause and we thank His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his vision to bring happiness in the lives of the under privileged during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Boumelha said: “More than 5,000 families will benefit from the project this time and this project is of great importance to the foundation as it cooperates with its partners in charity within the UAE for the distribution of the smart cards. A set number of cards have been allocated to families in each emirate.”
