“HLS has signed contracts in Qatar, KSA and Oman. As long as there is demand for life safety equipment, business will continue to run smoothly,” Mark Fenton, said.

“HLS main focus is on protection for life and property from the risks of fire, smoke, hazardous gases and explosions by providing system based solutions to the rapidly growing property and infrastructure sectors in the MENA region. We are global leader when it comes to fire systems, sensors and devices, home medical care, electrical safety and safety products for general industrial worker segments,” said Fenton.

From Conventional and intelligent fire alarm control panels to toxic gas detection and personal protective equipment, all Honeywell products are designed and manufactured to meet rigorous international approvals such as UL, FM, NFPA, EN54, LPC, and Lloyd’s of London. The company has done several projects in the UAE , including Atlantis, Burj Dubai, Jumeirah Lake Towers and RTA’s Metro Rail.

Dubai Civil Defence

HLS has been working closely with the Dubai Civil Defense, drafting new fire and life safety codes for different buildings and applications. “We are one of the principal editors of the new code for Fire and Safety (FAS). Our endeavour is to tap into the latest learning, codes and best practice from Europe and the US and from the rest of the world and bring this together as a leading document for the property and infrastructure sectors in the MENA region,” pointed Fenton.

“Our next initiative with Dubai Civil Defense is to look a training levels and how we can structure programmes for fire crews, building inspectors and installers so that there is a higher degree of awareness and confidence. It is important that they understand what is going to be mandated in the future and how to apply that to their role and therefore improve the general safety for everyone,” Fenton said.

Mark said: “From fire system design and manufacturing to product distribution and ongoing support, we do it all. Selling through Engineered Systems Distributors and Specialist Distributors, our products can handle any job size and requirement from schools to boats, malls to high-rise office buildings, museums to airports.”

On the scale of HLS operations in the region he said: “In terms of geographic reach, HLS Dubai operates in all the countries of the MEA region with a particular focus on the GCC countries. We do not have manufacturing capacity in the region as our worldwide manufacturing is concentrated in a few countries e.g. the US, Mexico, the UK, Italy, Russia, India and China.”
