Materials Handling Middle East to Begin from May 31

DUBAI — Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, will be the Patron of Materials Handling Middle East event, schedule to open from May 31-June 2, 2009.

Shaikh Ahmed is President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.

Shaikh Ahmed said: “Materials Handling Middle East is an example of providing innovative solutions to the evolving advancement in transportation and logistic industries, along with several other large scale developments that are being built to mark U.A.E’s leadership in these sectors. The transportation and logistics market of the U.A.E. is one of the most dynamic in the global business scene today.”

The role of Shaikh Ahmed in the formation of what may very well be the upcoming master blueprint for modern supply chain infrastructure is honoured world wide.

Materials Handling Middle East is the international exhibition for logistics, supply chain, freight, and cargo products and services.

The event will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Recent developments have increased the investment in the Middle East’s logistics industry to Dh221 billion ($60 billion) in 2008, according to Epoc Messe Frankfurt, exhibition organisers. “The Middle East’s international air cargo market is expected to grow at 8-10pc annually, while the ocean freight market is expected to grow at annual rates of 6-10pc. Overall, the regions logistics market is expected to grow at 9pc in 2008,” said Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen, Senior Show Manager of Materials Handling Middle East.
