The last edition of the exhibition witnessed conclusion of potential trade deals worth Dh 8 billion even though it was held during the high periods of financial crisis, Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud, Senior Trade Commissioner and Trade Consul of Malaysia in Dubai told Khaleej Times here. “This year we hope to achieve better numbers in terms of deals concluded at the exhibition.’’
“The bilateral trade between Malaysia and UAE in products was about Dh 16.5 billion up to November last year. Services sector might be contributing another Dh 2 billion or Dh 3 billion to the trade between the two countries,’’ Mahmud said. “Malaysian services are a significant component of social and infrastructure development across the world. Increasing consciousness on quality, efficiency and cost has enabled Malaysia to make further inroads into the services export market,” Mahmud said.
