Brian Kennedy, operations manager of the new cut and bend plant, told Khaleej Times that the facility is a green factory because all the steel scraps are brought back to other steel plants in the UAE for recycling. “No steel scraps will be left around. Only mineral oil is to be used so the plant does not have any carbon emission.”

This month alone, the new rebars cut and bend plant has a commitment order of 190,000 tonnes for immediately supply to all major projects in UAE. “But, we keep on upgrading daily as large quantity of orders is on hand for the first year of operation.”

The huge requirements from all over UAE may leave out giant heaps of scraps, but they all go for recycling, he said.

He said that as long as Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the other emirates continue to develop, there will always be huge requirements of cut and bend steel to build their projects.
