Nokia Top Brand in the UAE

DUBAI - Nokia topped as the best performing brand in the UAE and Emirates airlines crowned as the country’s best brand in the top ten ranking, according to a latest survey of consumers.

Google was the second strongest brand in the results of the survey, conducted by a market research company YouGov’s BrandIndex.

Dubai-based airline Emirates was the highest-ranking home-grown brand at number four in the list behind Sony.

Four of the top ten brands belong to automobiles companies namely Toyota, Mercedes, BMW and Lexus with automotive manufacturers rising to over one third among the top 15 brands.

Microsoft also made to the top 10 ten along with Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.

YouGov’s “brand barometer” gathers the views of 750 UAE and Saudi consumers online each fortnight, across 200 brands. Quality, general impression, value for money, corporate reputation, satisfaction and likeliness to recommend were the six profile indicators used to measure the health of a brand.

Separately, survey also ranked the top ten car maker. They are Mercedes, Toyota, BMW, Lexus, Honda, Porsche, Nissan, Audi Land Rover/Range Rover and Infiniti.

Any of the local and international bank could not get position in the overall top ten ranking as the highest scorer Dubai Islamic Bank succeeded to secure only 19.7 points in the BrandIndex’s survey compared to the 10th- ranked Lexus, which got 45.4 points.

Baskin Robbins topped in restaurants and dining with 41.1 points followed by Chilis and Subway.

Galadari Ice Cream Company is the exclusive licensee for Baskin-Robbins for the Gulf region and the company recently opened its 450th store in the Gulf region.

Top three brands among the respective sectors were: Airlines – Emirates, Etihad, Qatar; Electronics and Internet – Google, Sony, Microsoft; Property Developers – Emaar, Aldar, Dubai Properties; and Telecom and Network Providers – Nokia, Blackberry, Sony Ericcson.
