The company, which launched its UAE operations in April computerlast year, aims to achieve double-digit market share in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, a top official of the company said. “We have to look for a 10 per cent market share where we are present and UAE is included,” Packard Bell Director Sales for Middle East and Africa Shashank Sharma told Khaleej Times.

Packard Bell understands the need of style-conscious users who want a highly portable all-day notebook, he said.

Easy-to-carry, the stylish EasyNote Butterfly xs is the ideal on the go entertainer: packed with a built-in optical drive, up to eight hours of juice, and a convenient full-size keyboard.

Sharma said the customers’ behaviour had been changed during the last seven to eight years and now they demand more than a machine; colour and design are important for them.

“They are not looking at CPU, memory and hard drive, but look for value addition. Battery life and warranty is also important in addition to technical aspects,” he said.

The company’s revenue touched $60 million from MENA region including Turkey during last year, according to Sharma. “Its an important achievement keeping in mind the global economic downturn in 2009,” he said.

The big four markets for the company in the region are UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and South Africa in terms of quantity, Sharma said, adding: “In the UAE we have partnership with all the key retailers such as Sharaf, Jacky’s, Jumbo and others,” he added. The high-definition 11.6-inch display, HDMI port, advanced processing graphics, plus the built-in optical drive make the EasyNote Butterfly xs perfect for watching movies, and it will even burn DVDs on the go.

With its compact design integrating a six-cell flush battery, the EasyNote Butterfly xs has the same size as a magazine and weighs only1.6 kilogramme.

It fits in any purse, bag or hand carrier and really fits its name — it is really an extra-small notebook.

The 5-in-1 card reader allows flexible storage and file sharing — the up to 640 GB hard disk drive offers a large storage solution for movies, music and more.
