Sweden Island will bring the best of Swedish lifestyle, culture and heritage to Dubai, and will represent a truly Scandinavian way of life. The luxurious villas resemble the upturned hull of the renowned Viking ships, representing a Swedish historical treasure, and the island will be home to an authentic floating restaurant, based on Stockholm’s famous Saluhall Market. The floating restaurant will serve the finest Swedish cuisine during the festive period, and delicacies such as sour herring, Swedish meatballs, Raggmunk, toast Skagen, Swedish smorgasbord and crayfish throughout the year.

Sweden Island will emulate many of Sweden’s popular cultural traditions and festivals, which have developed their own rich and distinctive character and are renowned all over the world. Events will include midsummer celebrations, Swedish National Day, St Martin’s Day, Walpurgis Eve, Crayfish Party and Saint Lucia, as well as events celebrating the best of Swedish film, music and arts.

Richard Westcott, founder of leading European design firm Jardim Vista Landscaping, has been appointed for the landscaping of Sweden Island, and his designs incorporate the finest European architecture in a tropical island setting. JK Bauen, an affiliate company of the Kleindeinst Group specialising in construction, has been appointed to carry out all of the construction and building work on Sweden Island.

Josef Kleindienst, chief executive officer of the Kleindienst Group, said: “We are extremely excited to announce phase two of The Heart of Europe and share details about Sweden Island. The island will not only be home to the finest Swedish architecture and design, but it will bring the best of Swedish culture and lifestyle to Dubai.”

“We want to ensure people are genuinely able to experience Sweden on The Heart of Europe, through food, music, festivals, traditions and architecture, and I am confident that once complete, The Heart of Europe will bring a totally unique holiday experience to Dubai.”

In terms of construction, The Heart of Europe has carried out a rigorous programme of vibrocompaction ground engineering on the six islands and the plate load testing results have far and away achieved well beyond the acceptance criteria for the ultimate bearing pressure.

Results show that in the next 50 years the settlement of The Heart of Europe islands when they are built upon, will settle better under building pressure than that of Dubai mainland. This shows the extensive level of construction quality achieved and guarantees a high level of security, over a very long period of time on The Heart of Europe development. The Heart of Europe is a unique and iconic holiday destination located on The World in Dubai. Made up of six stunning man-made islands, each capturing a different facet of Europe’s unique character, The Heart of Europe will offer visitors and holidaymakers the authentic charm and sophistication of Europe.
