Resolution issued to establish bureau for financial policies and budgeting

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has issued resolution No. 24 for 2010 on the establishment of the Financial Policies and Budget in Abu Dhabi.

According to the resolution, the bureau shall report to the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The resolution named Dr Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei as Chairman of the bureau. Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi and Riyad Abdul Rahman Al Mubarak, were also named as members.

The bureau is mandated to oversee all matters pertaining to the financial policies and the general budget of the government entities, including those affiliated to the Crown Prince. It shall act as a conduit between the Department of finance and the Executive Council.

The bureau shall submit findings of studies and recommendations to the Executive Council for its approval.

The bureau’s duties include studying, discussing and proposing financial policy and general budget for the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

It is also mandated to study, discuss and propose annual plans, general budget projections, to suggest appropriate sources for financing major government projects, to define priorities for expenditure in the general budget, to identify ways of integrating financial and strategic plans under the emirate’s public policy, to set a public debt ceiling and government expenditure ceiling, to regularly issue financial reports and to perform any other tasks assigned by the Executive Council.

The resolution shall be effective from the date of issuance and shall be published in the official gazette.
