“We are looking for seven to eight properties every year and by the end of this year our property portfolio will reach 42,” Rotana’s Chief Operating Officer Omer Z. Kaddouri told Khlaeej Times at the launch of Amwaj Rotana — the first property of the group with beach access in Dubai.
Rotana Group, which has over 6,000 rooms under operations in the UAE, currently manages more hotels in Dubai and the Northern Emirates than any other single operator.
“We currently manage 16 properties (in Dubai and Northern Emirates) with a total rooms inventory of 4,045, including Centro Barsha, the second property under our exciting new ‘Centro Hotels by Rotana’ brand, which opened on June 27, 2010,” Kaddouri said.
He said, by the end of next year another seven to eight hotels will be added across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. These hotels are based in Doha, Jordan, Bahrain and Oman, he added.
“We are expanding our foothold into the region and I think there are many areas which are under supplied,” Kaddouri said. North Africa and Saudi Arabia is under-supplied, he added.
He said, in Dubai occupancy level is on an average 60 per cent, but beach properties have higher level of occupancies, compared to city hotels.
“Business is good and is getting stronger occupancy levels as more people are coming to Dubai due to attractive rates,” he said.
“Occupancy level is seen reviving,” he said, adding: “Rates have been hit but it has been hit for a reason and now they are settling down.”
Commenting on the opening of Amwaj Rotana, Kaddouri said: “It is a true landmark in the area. With its great location, perfect views and endless sunshine, it will be an idyllic retreat for both leisure and business travelers.”
Cast away in the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach lies delicately in the pristine beauty of new Dubai.
This property offers 301 superb rooms, suites and one presidential suite with their modern designs overlooking the Arabian Gulf Sea. Each of the rooms and suites will have high-speed internet connection and a variety of amenities and facilities. — abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
