Saudi Automotive Market is Worth $9 Billion

JEDDAH —Saudi Arabia’s automotive market including transport infrastructure and commercial vehicles are worth $9 billion, according to Mufareh bin Mohammed Al Zahrani, assistant deputy minister for technical affairs, who is also the director of transport and road affairs,Western Region.

Al Zahrani said that the importance and potential of the automobile market could be gauged from the presence of a large number of companies from China, Germany, the UK, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Iran and the Arab world, besides local Saudi companies, he said after the inauguration of the maiden Autocare and Transport Arabia show at the Jeddah Centre for Forums and Events.

The show, organised by the Al Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd., under the patronage of the ministry of transport, was sponsored by Zahid Tractor.

Ali Al Shamrani, president and founder of the 100 per cent Saudi-owned Al Shamrani Factory for Draw Bar Trailers, said he believed in growing with the country. “As I see it, our development is linked to that of the kingdom.” He explained that Saudi Arabia has embarked on a number of mega-projects covering a wide range of industries, a bulk of them focusing on those sectors of the economy in which the kingdom has comparative advantages.
