Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the appointment of Yousef AlMutawa as the CEO of the Sharjah Sustainable City project, launched this March by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
It is the first urban mixed-use real estate and property project in the emirate that will meet the highest standards of green economy and environmental sustainability. The project, which sales are open for buyers and investors, is the outcome of a strategic partnership between Shurooq and Diamond Developers.
AlMutawa is also Shurooq's director of Operations. His appointment is a reinforcement of Shurooq's long standing strategy to invest in human capital and nurture young professionals to take leadership positions. The authority has been providing its platform for their innovative ideas and leading projects to take shape, and to increase the inflow of investments into the emirate.
Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, executive chairman of Shurooq, said the appointment of AlMutawa reflected the authority's vision to invest in young leaders and support them to play a key role in driving the development of Sharjah and the UAE. He added that AlMutawa's expertise would be a valuable asset to the authority in developing the Sharjah Sustainability City and providing the best services to investors and potential buyers. He pointed out that as per Shurooq's expansion strategy to develop more tourism, real estate and commercial projects, there was a need for nurturing the workforce's skills, creating more jobs and offering the younger generation opportunities to thrive in leadership roles.
Sharjah Sustainable City is a Dh2 billion mixed-use project. Being developed on a 7.2 million square feet plot, it will feature 1,120 villas in different designs upon completion, and offer up to 100 per cent savings on electricity and water bills. The community will also have eight green houses with vertical farms. The city will also boast a fully integrated and autonomous shuttle service, to achieve its ambition of creating an excellent city that supports sustainable and sustainable community life in Sharjah. It will be the emirate's first Net Zero Energy community in the emirate, poised to be a landmark contribution to the global environmental movement, especially climate change.
Potential buyers can explore the villa architectural designs that are being developed as three, four and five-bedroom units on 2,035sqf - 3,630sqf plots. Each villa type is being designed to offer buyers the perfect combination of comfort, private, practicality and style. Additionally, residents will be able to enjoy several other amenities within the community, including a shopping centre, a venue to host social events, health clubs, swimming pools, cycling and jogging tracks, restaurants, nurseries, medical clinics and a mosque. All of these public facilities will also be built on eco-friendly principles.
