Slowdown to Bring Public-private Sector Closer, Says du Chief

SHARJAH — The global economic slowdown is bringing private- public sector closer and there are plenty of opportunities for the both sectors to work in harmony and partnership, Osman Sultan, CEO and chairman, du, observed at the launch of Sharjah Tatweer forum’s third public-private partnership programme in Sharjah yesterday.

He said: “The Sharjah Tatweer Forum is playing a very constructive role in strengthening public-private partnership and we are happy to extend sponsorship of this programme for the second consecutive year. The response from the various participants is encouraging for us to take up greater role in eco-social activities of the emirates.”

He urged the media to play an active role in explaining to the larger audience about the importance of this social corporate responsibility. “Our sponsorship is not an advertisement it’s a comprehensive concept and a long-term commitment that engage and encourage us to interact with entire community for sustainable development of the society.”

Explaining the objectives of the partnership with du, the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Chairman Sharjah Tatweer Forum said: “The forum underscores the concept of partnership between various sectors and highlights the corporate responsibility of private sector companies and its role in increasing the overall competitiveness and sustainable development of Sharjah through bold initiative.”

He maintained that Sharjah Tatweer Forum is an ambitious initiative to develop human capital and create real public private cooperation.”It will work to bring young talent to fore and enhance their leadership qualities.Under this programme we will interact with universities and private businesses to help develop communication skills and let the youth have experience of how the private business works.”

The public private partnership(PPP) programme aims at fostering cooperation between the various sectors and enhancing the role of the private sector in the economic and social activities of the emirates.
