Spinneys to Open 39th Branch

DUBAI — Grocery chain operator Spinneys Dubai LLC will open its new branch today within Souq Extra at the Ewan Residence in Dubai 
Investment Park.

The new branch brings the total number of Spinneys outlets in the UAE to 39, including convenience stores.

Spinneys Group is involved in the retail and marketing of consumer goods, most notably in the food sector, and its activities are spread throughout the seven emirates.

Spinneys functions within the larger economy, and thus has not been affected by present economic conditions.

The spokesperson told Khaleej Times via e-mail that “since food is less cyclical than other retail types, the effect (of economic conditions) is therefore less on Spinneys, which is primarily a food retailer.” Locations for setting up new Spinneys branches are constantly evaluated, and the areas chosen are those wherein the company’s brand is well-represented, and where development will be sustained over the next few years. According to the spokesperson, no more branches will be opened this year.

Spinneys also contributes to environment protection with its Target 555 programme. In coordination with the Dubai Municipality, its goal is to disseminate public awareness on 
waste disposal.

The company’s aim is to have recycling centres in each of its branches. Spinneys also features its popular Market Day every Monday, where customers are given discounted prices and special offers on selected products.

The Ewan Residence branch will initially be open from 8am to 10pm.
