‘’The UAE’s strong economic foundation and the well-planned proactive measures taken by the Government have helped soften the adverse impact of the global crisis on the domestic economy,” Shaikh Sultan said on Tuesday while addressing a gathering of businessmen and heads of companies operating in Sharjah.

Shaikh Sultan also opened a permanent exhibition of local-made industrial products at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Sharjah Ruler urged the country’s private sector to play an active role along with the government for the advancement of the UAE’s social, humanitarian and educational sectors.

“The government will spare no effort to push forward its development programmes to enhance the country’s investment climate in order to attract feasible economic projects that will create job opportunities and meet the local market demand for core services and products,’’ he added.

Shaikh Sultan said in view of the current situation, the next phase of programme to stimulate the economy needed to be carefully planned and implemented in a pragmatic and realistic manner to address the remaining challenges and obstacles.

He said the government would welcome and support constructive initiatives that seek to boost viable public-private sectors partnerships and cooperation for sustainable development.

Shaikh Sultan pledged that Sharjah would forge ahead with plans to develop and modernise its infrastructure and services projects as scheduled in order to meet the requirements of the economic sectors.

Following his address, the Ruler discussed with the business leaders the current social and economic conditions in the UAE and the region.
