The competition, titled “Dancing Bird Designer Contest 2009” has been designed to identify and motivate jewellery design talents among the amateur and student fraternity, said Seema Shetty, Director of Aabharan Jewellery. “The contest also seeks to identify a range of contemporary designs that appeal to today’s woman,” said Seema.

Farheen Fatima and Ishita Saha, came second and third respectively in the jewellery design competition, now in its third year. The contest was open to all UAE residents except those working or associated with the jewellery industry. The contest started in April and ended with a grand finale in the first week of October.

Apart from prizes, the three finalists were also given an intensive training in jewellery manufacturing, where they could see their designs getting moulded into jewellery pieces.
