IT services market in the UAE was worth $1.02 billion last year (2008), representing a 29.1 per cent year-on-year increase even during the peak recession period, reveals the just-released ‘IT Services Forecast’ report from the IDC. IDC expects the IT services sector to continue growing at a steady rate in 2009 and pick up in 2010 as economic conditions improve and the market proceeds with natural maturation process, says the report released here by Injazat Data Systems, the leading information technology and business services provider based in Abu Dhabi. Exceptional growth in outsourced services, particularly in managed network and desktop services, contributed significantly to the sector’s solid performance. Injazat Data Systems, confirms this trend as it has been accommodating a surge in demand for its outsourced services, which in turn have contributed significantly to the overall market growth tracked by IDC, a release from Injazat said.

The IDC report identified government, finance and telecommunication as the top three sectors accounting for an aggregate 56 per cent of the IT services spending in 2008 in the UAE. System integration, deployment and support as well as outsourcing were the top three engagement types, with systems integration taking the largest share at 29.4 per cent.

Although vendor rankings have yet to be published, Injazat is confident that it will retain its position as one of the top three IT service providers in the country.
