Announcing the opening of Nesto’s 30th hypermarket in Sharjah tomorrow, group chairman K.P. Basheer said the first phase of expansion would see the group increasing its outlets across the region to 50 from 30 at present in three years.
The expansion will enable the group, which has a turnover of more than Dh1 billion, to boost its business by 50 per cent in three years, he said at a Press conference. However, over the next five years, the group well-known for its flagship Geepas electronics brand, is geared up for more aggressive growth plans, and will seek to emerge as one of the top retail players in the region with 100-store super-hypermarket chain, said Basheer. “We have a strong vision for future growth and a mix of hypermarkets and supermarkets,” he said.
The new outlet at Al Bateen, Sharjah, is spread over an area of around 240,000sqft, and is Nesto’s largest hypermarket in the UAE. “It will set new benchmarks in service and size to cater to several residential catchments in Sharjah. The hypermarket also has an easy access from Dubai outskirts, Ajman and all major parts of Sharjah,” Basheer pointed out. He said Nesto was established in the year 2004. “Our vision is to create a retail chain which is as friendly and accessible as your next door shop and at the same time provide the best quality products at the most competitive prices.”
