Dubai — Hosts Al Sadiq Islamic English School (ASIES) and Our Own Indian School chalked out comfortable victories in their respective first round matches of the Al Sadiq ASICS Inter-schools cricket tournament for boys under-10.
Al Sadiq beat Ambassador School, Dubai, by 33 runs while Our Own Indian School defeated JSS International School by 10 wickets. In another match, Delhi Private School, Dubai, posted their second straight win as they defeated JSS International.
In the ASIES-Ambassador match, the hosts opted to bat first after winning the toss and piled up 114 runs for the loss of one wicket in the allotted 12 overs. Ahmed Zeeshan (27) and Mohammad Fahad (23) were the major contributors for ASIES.
In reply, Ambassador managed to score 81 runs. Ruhan Israni top scored with 23 runs while Zeeshan, Arsalan Ejaz and Mohammad Ahmed took two wickets each. In the OOIS-JSS International match, JJS decision to bat first misfired as they were restricted to 81-2. Aradhya Dubey (21) and Tanishq Babu (15) were the only batsmen to impress.
In reply, openers Yazid Mohammad (48 not out) and Mohammed Thazeem (17 not out) ensured Our Own Indian taste their first win as they reached 84 runs in just 8 overs.
