All set for Dubai Sports and Technology Forum

Two of the most accomplished scientists in the field of applied technology will be in Dubai for the Dubai Sports Council’s “Sports and Technology Forum” to be held at the American University of UAE, Academic City, from June 4 to 6.

Dr. Paul Collins from the UK and Dr. Bonnie Mohanson from Cerritos, California are among the top experts in the field of technological applications in the development of athletics among school level children.

The forum, to be run under the theme of “Technological Applications for the Development of Athletic performance”, will be opened by Ahmed bin Humaidan, Director General, Dubai eGovernment with a lecture in which he will summarise his vast experience in the technology area.

The sessions will kick off on Monday in cooperation with the American University in the UAE, which will host the events at its headquarters in the Dubai Academic City.

This initiative has evolved from the the directives laid down by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Ccouncil, in an attempt to empower clubs within Dubai towards the goal of professionalism.

Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, affirmed that the forum falls within the purview of the Dubai Sports Council’s “2015 Strategic Plan” that encourages a development of sports at a uniform level be it on the field or by preparing athletes with a psychological bent.

“In the past the Dubai Sports Council has organised similar initiatives to usher in professionalism in the field of sports psychology and media, and now it is time to add a different dimension through the use of technology to enhance the sports scene both at the individual and club levels,” said Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif.

One of the star speakers will be the UAE Olympic team coach Mahdi Ali who will address delegates on “The Use of Technology in Athletic Training”.

“Technology plays a great role in the field of sports and we have ensured we have the best from the field so that we can achieve our goal of sporting excellence,” Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif said.
