Damac paves way for
Trump golf course

Damac Properties have inked a deal with US business magnate Donald Trump to develop an 18-hole PGA Championship Golf Course in Dubai.

The massive project will be named the Trump International Golf Club, Dubai.

Construction is already underway and the course will be ready for play next year.

The Trump Organisation already has 14 award winning courses under its ownership and management across the world, but this will be its first venture into Asia. The company’s latest course, the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, has already been tagged as one of ‘The World’s Greatest Golf Courses’. The 7,205-yard, par 71 Dubai course will be located just 10 minutes from Shaikh Zayed Road and sits at the heart of the 28 million square foot ‘Akoya by Damac’ master plan development — the launch of which was announced last week, according to a media communiqué from the local representatives here.

The Trump International Golf Club, Dubai will include a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art club house and a luxurious Trump spa and wellness centre.

“By collaborating with Donald Trump, we are bringing the most elite name in golf and international luxury real estate to Dubai,” said Hussein Sajwani, chairman, Damac Properties. “This course will provide a unique challenge for golfers, while delivering the upmost luxury and refinement for which both Damac Properties and the Trump Organisation have become renowned for.”

A study released earlier this month, by accounting firm KPMG, for the first time placed the UAE in the top 10 most popular destinations worldwide for golf tourism. Dubai and Abu Dhabi sit in 6th place on the table, ahead of more established destinations including the US, England and South Africa. The report went on to add that global golf holiday sales grew by an average of 9.3 per cent compared to the previous year, now exceeding euros 1.5 billion (Dh 7.22 billion).
