Dubai: The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) travelled to three different schools earlier this week to showcase informative presentations on their National Junior Development Programme (NJDP) to local children and their parents.
The EGF met with school administrators and physical education (PE) teachers from the International School of Arts and Science (ISAS), Al Mawakeb School – Al Garhoud and Al Mawakeb School — Al Barsha to explain — and start — the process of bringing golf into schools.
With help from Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI) as well, the EGF was able to introduce the game to more than 40 Emirati families.
They talked to those families on the many benefits of the sport for kids such as leading and living an active and healthy lifestyle; learning etiquette and integrity and developing interpersonal skills and all on internationally-renowned, safe and well-supervised courses. “These visits are the first of many steps that the EGF is taking in order to build interest from national golfers,” said the EGF’s secretary general Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi. “This is a great way to get golf into schools across the UAE. It is a goal at the EGF to identify and develop UAE national golfers. Reaching out to the UAE schools is one way of achieving that goal.”
