Dubai — The Mena Golf Tour has received a massive shot in the arm with German teenage sensation Dominic Foos committing to play in the Qualifying School to be held in the Moroccan capital of Rabat next month.

A naturally-gifted player from St Leon-Rot Golf Club, near Heidelberg, Foos provided a glimpse of his precocious talent, becoming Germany’s top-ranked amateur golfer and the number one under-15 golfer in the world in 2012 before turning professional on his 17th birthday last year.

A quick gander at his early days reveals Foos was destined to make it big in golf given his dramatic improvement since taking to the sport when he was just three years old. By the time he was 12, he was already a scratch golfer and two years later he was playing off plus five. Bringing his own fair and exuberance to the game, Foos won just about everything up for grabs as an amateur and represented Europe in both the Jacques Leglise Trophy and the Junior Ryder Cup.

‘I feel I am ready for new challenges and look forward with excitement to take the next step in my golf career,” said Foos ahead of the Mena Golf Tour Q-School, which will be held at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam Course from March 30 to April 1.

“It will be my first time on the tour, but I have a fair idea of what to expect. I know they have a lot of the players who on their day are as good as anyone on any other tour,” said Foos, who, in 2012, became the youngest player to win the German Matchplay Championship for Men.
