Two solid nines of 19 and 19 made up his total which included three straight pars on the 3rd, 4th and 5th both times he played the holes. The 22 handicapper also went on to par the tricky water riddled 8th hole on both occasions too making a clean sweep of pars on the par 3’s. Horgan was delighted with his win and also commented how he had coped well playing the final 9 holes under the lights, which had been a first for him.

Two points behind Horgan was Al Badia Golf Club member Noel Connolly who came home with a level par 36 to win the Division 2 prize on the evening, the highlight of his round being a gross birdie at the dog leg 10th hole.

The Division 1 prize went to SGSC member Indian golfer Sanjoy Das who has been playing some extremely steady golf of late, a round of 35 points was two points clear of his nearest Division 1 rival and provided some satisfaction after he had been knocking on the door with some previous solid performances.

The ladies winner also returning 35 points was Normita Demesa, who always seems to rise to the occasion on the bigger stage, in the end beating her only female rival on the evening by a whopping 10 clear points.

The final award of the day went to Danyaal Waheed of the Arabian Ranches Golf Club as he collected the gross prize after finishing with a total of 30 gross points. Waheed managed to finish slightly stronger than his playing partner and fellow junior golfer Vaughan Reed (EGC), who was clearly disappointed as his stroke play score actually beat Waheed but lost out on gross stableford points.

Possibly the most unluckiest golfer during the event was Dutch Jebel Ali member Maurice Doreleijers who unfortunately turned up late missing his first hole then went on to blob his 2nd hole due to lack of preparation. From this point on Doreleijers collected 35 points over his final 16 holes to just miss out, surely could have been a winner if he had been able to make it on time.
