Mirko Vucinic is looking forward to putting Al Jazira back in the hunt for silverware after signing with the club this season.

The Montenegro international joins from Italian giants and Serie A champions Juventus and was officially unveiled at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium late on Saturday night.

The striker signed a three-year contract with the ‘Pride of Abu Dhabi’ and will don the No.9 jersey.

Vucinic has also played for AS Roma, where he made 147 appearances and scored 46 goals. With Juventus, Vucinic scored 21 goals in 72 appearances.

He made five appearances for Serbia and Montenegro and after Montenegro became an independent country, he made 39 appearances, scoring 15 goals.

It will be the first time that the 30-year-old will be playing outside Europe and he said that he was looking forward to the new experience.

“It is a new experience and a new mentality playing in a new league. I got to know of the Al Jazira offer through my agent. I thought it was a pretty good deal and I’m certainly looking forward to give the best to my new club and helping them in winning trophies,” Vucinic said.

Vucinic felt that the Arabian Gulf League is at a good level with some top quality players and said that it would be an interesting prospect.

“I will turn 31 in October and that is not too old for a football player. I am not thinking beyond my playing career at the moment. I want to give my best for Al Jazira. I know about the League here and and I know it is at a good level. It is improving all the time,” said Vucinic. “There are several top class players from around the world who are playing here. So, it would be a new challenge for me to adapt to this League,” he added.
