Fujairah - The newly promoted Dibba Al Fujairah club's officials are looking forward to make their second appearance in the Arabian Gulf League more frutiful as the Nawakhza prepare for the new season with some interesting transfers.
"Our first foray in the country's premier competition two years ago wasn't remarkable butthis time we are optimistic about emulating our city rivals Fujairah's efforts in the AGL last season," the team manager Jumaa Hamdan told Khaleej Times. Dibba Al Fujairah, winner of the First Division title, are promoted along with the runners up Al Shaab.
"Fortunately, both Fujairah teams will be playing their home clashes at the same venue, including the two Fujairah derbies which are going to be very exciting," he added.
Hamdan said the team was already undergoing an internal training camp under the supervision of their new German coach Theo Bucker and his Egyptian assistant Tareq Al Sayed.
"Bucker has been recruited from the Lebanese side Neijmeh to replace the Brazilian coach Sergio, who could not come to the UAE to take charge of the team," he clarified.
Regarding the new recruits, Hamdan confirmed that Al Dhafra's former Lebanese defender Bilal Najjarine has joined the club as Asian player alongside Brazilian forward Luis Elias form Saudi outfit Al Fateh.
"We are yet to decide on the remaining two professional players and our plan is to have them ready before we embark on a tour of Germany, which is scheduled to start after Eid holidays," he said but declined to elaborate.
he informed that Al Dhafra's former defender Mohammed Qassim 'General' and teammate Khalifa Ebrahim, Ajman's midfielder Nasser Abdul Hadi as well as Ahmed Essa Kamil from Al Shaab were among the most prominent national players to join the club. "Other players who have been signed on loan include Al Jazira's defender Abdulla Nasser and Bani Yas keeper Sultan Al Dhahiri while we are still hoping to attract more experienced national players," he added.
