Royal drubbing for Unicon Real Estate

GMW Royal registered a comfortable 70-run victory over Unicon Real Estate in a Group B match of the 5th Al Dhaid Ramadan Cup tournament at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Unicon’s decision to put GMW Royal to bat first did not go according to plan as openers Juma Gul and Sameer Shah raced to a 73-run partnership inside 10 overs. Gul hammered six boundaries during his 36-ball 54 while Shah played a patient knock to score 16 runs from 30 balls.

Fahad Iqbal further propelled the total blasting a 25-ball 43 including two fours and a six while Razik Khan chipped in with a quick 16-ball 36 with the help of two hits to the fence as GMW Royal piled on 186 for six in 20 overs. For Unicon, Naseem Gul gave away 25 runs from his three overs but claimed three wickets while Maaz Ansari scalped two.

Chasing a competitive target, Unicon were in the backseat early on losing two quick wickets. Naseeb Gul (32, 37b, 2x4, 1x6) and Nawab Farooq (16, 9b, 2x4, 1x6) briefly put on a partnership but before it could blossom into a big one, GMW Royal bowlers again came back firing all guns to run through the remaining batsmen.

Hidyat Khan scored an unbeaten 14 but only to delay the inevitable as Unicon managed only 116 for nine in 20 overs.

Amjad Jawed, Raziq Khan and Sameer Shah all accounted for two wickets each for the winners.
