The very first event of the new series saw all five of the UAE’s Troon Golf facilities represented by teams of excited junior golfers ranging from as young as seven through to 16 years of age. Tee times were set up to feature a mix of younger and older players, with the latter taking on mentoring roles for the younger, less experienced golfers.
Led by future star Sean Cooper from the Grass Roots Golf Programme, The Track Meydan Golf was crowned as the winning team with a total score of 79 points ahead of The Address Montgomerie Dubai with 70 points.
Capped by an emphatic birdie on the 27h hole, seven year old Sean shot an even par round to catapult his team to the top of the leader board.
Sean pipped Jennifer Buchanan from The Address Montgomerie Dubai to win the Individual Net prize, while Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s Amalia Arredondo claimed the Nearest to the Pin prize on the par three 25th.
The Troon Golf Junior Inter-Club Series swings over to Dubai next month for the second round, taking place on 24 May at The Els Club Dubai. For more information please contact Danny Jakubowski on djakubowski@troongolf.com or Rhys Beecher on rbeecher@emaar.ae.
