Yousuf Yaqoob Al Serkal, president of the UAE Football Association (UAEFA), has approved Adidas Brazuca, which weighs 437 grams and has a circumference of 69 centimetres, as the official match ball for the upcoming season 2014-15 before chairing over the ordinary general meeting which was convened at the association’s offices here in Al Aweer on Thursday night.
The meeting was chaired over by Al Serkal, chairman of the General Assembly, and attended by his deputies Mohammed Thani Murshid Al Ruumaithi and Obaid Salem Al Shamsi alongside board members Rashid Al Zaabi, Nasser Al Yamahy, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Mohammed Haji Khoury, Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, Mohammed Omer Al Shamri, Saeed Obaid Al Tunaiji and Amal Bu Shallak as well as Mohammed Abdulla Hazzam Al Dhahiri, acting secretary general of the UAEFA; Ali Hamad, acting general manager of the UAEFA; and the representatives of the football clubs apart from Al Wasl, Al Arabi, Al Hamriya, Al Rams, Masafi and Falaj Al Mualla.
And after ascertaining the quorum, the agenda of the meeting was ratified. Thereafter, Al Serkal congratulated the attendants on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and wished them all the best while they are looking forward to push forward the country’s football by tailoring and approving the suitable legislations for the vital and crucial matters and affairs.
“Sports in our nation is making a steady move thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their brothers the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the emirates and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Committee and Honorary President of the UAEFA and we are proud of this support which made the development and progress possible,” he said. Meanwhile, Mudhafar Al Hammadi, Mohammed Al Marri and Ahmed Ali were assigned to review the minutes. The minutes of the general meeting No. 1/2013 which was held on July 6, 2013 and the minutes of the extraordinary general meeting No. 1/2014 dated February 22, 2014 were ratified. The report of the activities of the UAEFA for the 2013-14 season, the final accounts and the editors’ reports were presented and ratified. Furthermore, the applications of Ras Al Khaimah, Madam, Bataieh and Melaiha to be associated with the FA were approved.
The final account for 2012 which has been sent to the clubs for comments was approved. It has also been decided to approve the proposed amendments to the articles of association and to refer the proposals of the clubs about the same to the board of directors for further reference to the legal committee for study and presentation before the next meeting of the general assembly.
The general meeting also discussed the proposed amendments to the players’ status and transfers and approved the amendments to the disciplinary regulations as well as the appeal rules. Finally, Al Serkal thanked the officials for their positive contributions and wished them best of luck in the future. After the end of the meeting, Al Dhahiri and Ali Hamad held a joint news conference to brief the media about the amendments which have been carried out.
