Shaikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, chairman of Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), and the rest of the EGF board members were recently presented with honorary memberships at Jumeirah Golf Estates (JGE).

These gifts of appreciation were made to express gratitude to the EGF for their contribution to JGE and UAE golf overall.

Upon arrival at the golf club, Shaikh Fahim was welcomed in customary fashion by JGE’s senior management — executive director Abdulaziz Bukhatir and the general manager of club operations, Neal Graham. Shaikh Fahim was then presented with his honorary membership.

Following the presentation, the EGF board members were taken on a VIP guided tour of the premises.

The tour consisted of a complete excursion through the recently-built clubhouse, courtyards and locker rooms. Once inside, the JGE staff presented Shaikh Fahim with his personalised, branded locker.

From there, all EGF delegates were transported to the well-known European Tour Performance Institute (ETPI), where they got to see first-hand why so many European Tour players train at this facility.

With state-of-the-art technology in the swing studios, putting labs and fitness areas, it is easy to understand the influence that this facility will have in the country.

“To be here — and presented with the honorary membership — is a true privilege,” said the EGF’s secretary general Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi.

“We at the EGF, and the UAE national golf teams, are extremely excited to work with JGE and the ETPI to develop the game of golf in the UAE.

“This is one of the best facilities in the world and we hope that this golf club will transform golf in this country for many years to come,” Al Shamsi said.

Following the tour, the EGF held a two-hour meeting in the clubhouse boardroom to discuss their upcoming events and other UAE golf-related matters.
