His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai received the members and officials of the Al Ahli Football Club, champions of the Arabian Super Cup, Arabian Gulf League and the Arabian Gulf Cup, on Tuesday at Zabeel Palace.
In his remarks at the meeting, Shaikh Mohammed described Al Ahli’s three wins as national Emirati achievements, and urged the players to always commit themselves to positive energy, determination, patience and optimism in order to advance their performance in the field. He also described Al Ain’s recent win of UAE President’s Cup as a source of pride.
Shaikh Mohammed noted that it is important to support the national football team with new excellent young players from local clubs in order to enable it to engage in regional and international competitions and make achievements for UAE football.
He praised the Al Ahli players for their performance and professionalism which he attributed to good management and the patriotism of the players, as well as to their continuous training and building of experience. The meeting took place in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director of Protocol and Hospitality, Dubai; Abdullah Saeed Al Nabooda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ahli Club; and other officials.
