Stage set for Scratch Golf League final

The first leg of the two leg final of the 2013 – 2014 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League will take place on Friday at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club when Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club takes on The Els Club.

The eight players a side match in a fourball scratch matchplay format tees off with a 1.30 pm shotgun start.

This is the 39th match in the season long league that began back in November 2013 when 14 teams played out 36 divisional home and away matches to determine the four winners of the respective divisions.

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and The Els Club progressed both as winners of their divisions as well as winning their semi-finals against Yas Links, Abu Dhabi and last year’s league champions The Address Montgomerie, Dubai respectively to set up the final match.

Leading players in the final who have performed admirably year to date in this year’s league include; Mike McGinley (DCGYC) 4 ½ points from six games, Miki Mirza (DCGYC) four points from four games, Paul Moir (The Els Club) four points from five games, Bayhan Lakdawala (DCGYC) four points from five games and Max Burrow (DCGYC) four points from five games.

The second leg of the final will be held at The Els Club with tee times 7.20 am - 7.50 am on Saturday 31st May 2014.

Pairings — Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club versus The Els Club (DCGYC names first): Edoardo Gellippini and Bayhaan Lakdawala v Michael Fournie and Gerhardt Pretorious

Miki Mirza and Mike McGinley v Mark Hay and Paul Moir

John Fellingham and Bilal Bilaid v Dean Cheesley and Xavier Farrington Max Burrow and Rayhan Thomas v Dave Voller and Maz Nubani.
