The in-schools initiative is set to reach over 10,000 children in the UAE, giving them the opportunity to win tournament prizes and leave good luck messages for their favourite teams competing next month.

The LOC kicked off in-schools celebrations today in Abu Dhabi and the tour is scheduled to visit each host city to share pre-tournament festivities and reach out to football fans across the Emirates. With just 17 days to go until the Fifa U-17 World Cup lands in the UAE, tickets are selling fast and supporters are gearing up to welcome their cherished teams, who will start arriving in the UAE from October 11 ahead of the first match on October 17.

Tournament Director, Mohammed bin Bdoua, is looking forward to bringing Fifa U-17 World Cup celebrations to the schools and said: “This is another great step forward which brings us closer to the largest football event ever staged in the UAE. The Emirates is a country that loves football and it’s a sport that is part of every school’s curriculum. We are reaching out to children to encourage them to be a part of this huge football festival and support their teams. This activity is also a great refresher for children about the importance of being active and staying healthy through playing sports in school.

The Fifa U-17 World Cup is an inspirational tournament to this younger generation who are passionate about the sport, and we hope we’ll see some of them representing their country one day in an international tournament.”

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Trophy Tour in your city, by logging on to www.fifa.com/u17worldcup or calling 800 STADIA (800 782342) for the chance to secure the seats.
