Mohammad Tariq Iqbal smashed a quickfire century as Al Futtaim Motors Toyota handed Jotun Paints a heavy 115-run defeat to storm into the semi-finals of the 4th UAQ Municipality Premier T-20 League organised by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association.
The tournament is being held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.
Jotun Paints must have regretted their decision to put Al Futtaim to bat first as Iqbal ripped apart their bowlers to ensure Al Futtaim Motors piled a huge 259 for three in 20 overs.
His amazing 113 came off just 51 deliveries with the help of a whopping 18 boundaries and four sixes. He was well supported by Asghar Butt who scored a 38-ball 60 which included five fours and three sixes and Salman who smashed a 12-ball 37, of which 36 came of only sixes.
In reply, Jotun Paints were out of the race from the start with none of the batsmen looking in threatening form. Tehzeeb top scored with 21 as they managed only 144 for nine in 20 overs.
In another quarter-finals match, Nucaf Tellicherry scored an easy nine-wicket victory over Al Jabeen.
Chasing a modest 130 to win, Firoz Khan fired a 46-ball 71 including eight boundaries and two sixes while Prashanth Braggs scored 36 as Nucaf Tellicherry got past the target in the 15th over.
Mohammed Yasir hit a crucial 75 while Sajjad Khan (41) and Haroon Ahmed (32) made significant contributions as Multiplex International defeated Car Fare Dubai by 23 runs to enter the last four.
Golden Tower became the final team to enter the semifinals as they ousted Al Badar by 47 runs. Adnan (42), Norman Farooq (40) and Amjad Gujjar (37) came good with bat for the winners.
