UAE edge past Russia to finish third in Intercontinental Cup Beach Soccer

The hosts ended their campaign on a high with a dramatic winner in the extra time against Russia in the third-place playoff.

Iran won the 2019 Intercontinental Cup beach soccer tournament in Dubai with an emphatic 6-3 win over Spain in the final, while hosts UAE beat Russia 2-1 in extra time to clinch the third place on Saturday.
Spain, who beat Russia 4-2 in the first semifinal of the tournament on Friday, couldn't find any answer to Iran's superb display of skills in Saturday's finale.

Earlier, Japan beat Egypt 7-2 in the fifth place playoff while Italy beat Mexico 3-2 to finish seventh in the tournament.. In their two previous appearances in the Intercontinental Cup, Japan had only managed seventh place, and although they were already guaranteed a better position, they didn't hold back in taking fifth.
