Udayakumar, a member of the bronze medal winning team at the Seoul Asian Games in 1986 played in the company of other greats like the George brothers — Jimmy and Jose, and Cyril C. Valloor during a time when the sport was at its pinnacle in India.
He was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 1991.
