Dubai — India’s Larsen & Toubro has finished commissioning the $400 million-plus Umm Lulu phase 1 and Nasr phase 1 field development projects of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco).

The Umm Lulu field reported first oil in October 2014 and the Nasr field achieved production on January 24, 2015. Once fully developed, the Umm Lulu field will generate 105,000 barrels of oil per day while Nasr field will produce 65,000 barrels daily.

Successful completion of these projects marks the coming of age of L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering, the oil and gas projects subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited, a $14.3 billion technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate.

The project was executed from multiple centres. Engineering and procurement for both projects was carried out at the L&T-Valdel engineering centre in Bengaluru. The manufacturing, including integration with equipments and systems, complete with onshore commissioning, was from L&T’s modular fabrication yard in Sohar, Oman. With less than 0.5 per cent weld repair rates, this project provides testimony to L&T’s quality performance.
