Eros Group recorded sales of Dh4.4 billion in 2014.
Dubai — Own the latest Samsung smartphone or is your home fitted with the latest Hitachi refrigerator and TCL television? Chances are they are from the Eros Group.
The Eros Group, the official distributor of world-renowned brands Samsung, Hitachi, TCL and Linksys, and one of the leading players in consumer electronics, telecom and allied multi-products in the Middle East, is behind 50 per cent of televisions, 50 per cent of smartphones, 25 per cent of premium refrigerators, 33 per cent of vacuum cleaners and 25 per cent of air purifiers sold in the UAE.
With an illustrious portfolio of 4,000 products under 14 brands, the Eros Group recorded sales of Dh4.4 billion in 2014.
A study done by global powerhouse PwC revealed that the consumer durables market is as high as €3,500 billion and is growing by five percent annually. Some reasons recognised for this growth is the increase of family disposable incomes, emerging retail boom, real estate and housing demand, overall increase in the expat population and the increase of marketing and advertising targeting the middle to upper-income groups.
These in turn put pressure on the retailer and distributor to constantly evolve.
The Eros Group has coped with these demands by attracting over 10 brands since 2010 and is the distributor, as of end 2014 of over 14 brands. Together with new brand addition and new product launches, the numbers of products under the Eros Group portfolio rose by 33 per cent in 2014 making the electronics conglomerate the distributor of over 4,000 products in the UAE.
According to a study by GfK, the trusted source of market and consumer information, most of the brands distributed by the Eros Group are leaders in their respective categories establishing the group as the No.1 distributor in the region.
Going by market data, 50 per cent of TVs sold in the UAE, 50 per cent of smartphones in the UAE, 33 per cent of vacuum cleaners sold in the UAE, 25 per cent of premium refrigerators, 25 per cent of routers, 25 per cent of air purifiers and 25 per cent of water dispensers sold in the UAE are all brands distributed by the Eros Group.
“The Eros Group is proud to behind the sale of over half of the smartphones and televisions in the UAE and to be the distributor behind at least one electronic product in a UAE home. We have been able to achieve this milestone because of the support of our channel partners who have played a crucial role in our success,” said Deepak Babani, chief executive officer of the Eros Group.
“Our objective was to become the No.1 distributor in the UAE and even though the task was a difficult one, we achieved this through ensuring the utmost importance to our consumer, employee and other stake holders. Further we have a portfolio of reputed products and ensure best in class after-care service to the consumer trusting in our brands and our success.”
