Al Jazeera says three of its journalists working in war-ravaged Yemen likely have been kidnapped.
The Qatari satellite news broadcaster says Hamdi Al Bokari, Abdulaziz Al Sabri and Moneer Al Sabai were last seen on Monday night. The network says the three were reporting for Al Jazeera's Arabic channel in Taiz, a city in southern Yemen that's been the scene of heavy fighting for months now.
In a statement late Thursday night, Al Jazeera's acting director-general Mostefa Souag called for the men's immediate release. He said: "Our colleagues were simply doing their job of reporting the story and informing the world on what is taking place in Yemen."
A Saudi-led coalition has been battling rebels known as Houthis on behalf of Yemen's internationally recognised government since March.
