The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, on Sunday, intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia towards Saudi Arabia.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), coalition spokesman Brigadier-General Turki Al Malki said: "Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this afternoon two bomb-laden UAVs launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects.
“These acts of aggression to deliberately and systematically target civilians and civilian objects by the terrorist, Iran-backed Houthi militia amount to war crimes.
The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will continue to implement all necessary operational procedures to safeguard civilians and civilian objects in accordance with the customary International Humanitarian Law,” he stated.
The coalition has reported increased aerial attacks by Houthis towards civilian areas in the Kingdom in the recent weeks, using remote-operated, explosive-laden drones. Sunday’s attack is the sixth one in five days.
Last Wednesday, Riyadh said an attack caused a fire in a civilian aircraft at Abha airport.
