This looks stomach-wrenchingly awful. From its Benny Hill-esque double-entendre title, to the fact it “stars” a more annoying screen presence than if Kim Kardashian and Jar Jar Binks had a lovechild starring in a primetime sitcom, Kevin Hart – we can’t believe Will Ferrell has stooped so low. Setting the Civil Rights Movement back about 60 years, Get Hard relies on lazy racial stereotypes that if you’re not offended by, you should perhaps read a newspaper or a book once in a while. Okay, so it’s just a bit of fun? These bits of fun are exactly the cases that perpetuate small-mindedness. Laughter (not in a sarcastic or ironic scenario) is a mechanism of social-inclusiveness by which people feel it’s okay to make fun of others outside their group simply because they may, as in the case of Get Hard, have a different accent, lifestyle choice or even worse, skin colour. We’re not going to dignify this film by explaining the plot and can only hang our heads that it besmirches the name of one of the truly great comic performers of the 21st century.
Imdb.com has given this a generous 6.2 and Rottentomatoes has it at 36%.

• “Finally, a comedy that homophobes, racists and generally stupid people can all enjoy together!” wrote Edward Douglas of Comingsoon.net. Now that’s funny.
