Oh goodness, it’s finally here. Delayed for almost four years in its release and having changed its name from Singularity, turn of the century (which was 15 years ago now) heartthrob Josh Hartnett’s historical epic has finally reached the big screen. An American-Bollywood crossover, The Lovers stars Josh Hartnett as a present day marine biologist exploring an old British colonial shipwreck. When complications arise and he slips into a coma, he is transported back in a dream to the 1778 Anglo-Maratha War where he finds himself an East India Trading Company captain. In short he falls in love with warrior Bipasha Basu and has to fight for this “forbidden union.” If anything exists that sounds more like a jazzed-up Mills & Boon novel, we’re yet to hear of it.

Imdb has given this 4.7 and Rottentomatoes.com gives it 10%.

 Trivia

• Amazingly the cast could have been even more irrelevant with Brendan Fraser initially being offered the leading role.
