The title of this film really sums this one up. Is it as good as the original? No. Will you enjoy revisiting these fish-out-of-water characters bumbling around India? Absolutely yes.
The plot sees a return to the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel where business is so good, hapless owner Sonny (Dev Patel) decides to open another one to welcome in more elderly guests to see out their twilight years away from England’s harsh climes.
The ensemble cast from the first movie (minus one) busy themselves with various episodic storylines to keep them busy while Sonny goes about trying to impress Richard Gere, the man he mistakenly identifies as the hotel inspector charged with rating the BEMH in order for it to be franchised. Let’s just hope there are no rats in the biscuit tin*!
