A 13-year-old Arab girl succumbed to her injuries after she fell from the fifth floor of her apartment in Al Jurf Area.
Police said that the girl was alone at home, as her family members had gone out for shopping.
Lt. Col  Yahya Al Matroushi, Director of Al Hamaidiya police station said that they received a call regarding an injured girl on Tuesday evening.
A team of police patrol, CID officers, forensic experts, and ambulance arrived at the site within a  short time and rushed the girl to the hospital. But in spite of their best efforts, she succumbed to the serious injuries on her skull two hours after she was brought to the hospital.
Investigations revealed that the girl was identified as Al Anood. E, a grade five student at Sheikha bint Saeed elementary school. She was alone at home when the accident occurred.
The police couldn't interrogate her to identify the cause of her fall as she was in a critical condition.
No criminal intent is suspected in the case as no fingerprints, apart from the girl, were found in the balcony.
During interrogation, the mother told the police that the teenager had slept after coming from school and refused to come to the market as she wanted to sleep more.
When the family came back home, the police asked them to identify the body of their daughter and then referred to public prosecution for an autopsy.
The family of the 13-year-old has urged other parents to not leave their children alone at home to avoid such incidents and ensure their safety.
