The Friday Market, organised by JYK in association with Dar Al Ber Society, a Dubai-based semi government charity organisation, attracted 6000 visitors on its opening day. Mirza Al Sayegh, advisor to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai & Finance Minister of UAE, inaugurated The Friday Market on Friday, January 29 at Rolla Street, Bur Dubai. Present during the occasion were the top management and staff of Dar Al Ber and JYK.
With a host of stalls selling garments, accessories such as bags and shoes and jewellery, household items, travel essentials and handcrafted goods, the market opened to a full house. Most of the visitors comprised families visiting food stalls replete with a variety of dishes and snacks including chaat, biryani, fish fry, tornado potato as well as coffee and donuts by Tim Horton. The children's play area with bouncy castles and a water ride was a major attraction as this was the first time that such a funfair was being organised in the locality.

"The response to The Friday Market on the opening day was overwhelming, and we are extremely grateful to Dar Al Ber Society as well as the people in the locality for that. It was heartening to see entire families walking in, and having a complete evening out, enjoying not just the shopping but also the galore of activities we have organised. We are looking forward to an even better turnout in the coming Fridays," said Juhi Yasmeen Khan, the founder of JYK Fashion House who is driving force behind the venture.
The Friday Market, an open air weekly marketplace, will be held every Friday from 3:00pm to 11:00pm till May 27, 2016. The entertainment activities for children such as fun rides, games and face painting will continue along with stalls with live food stations and snacks, ensuring a wholesome fun experience for the entire family.
The entry is free for all. Details available on their Facebook page.
