To encourage the community to share the peaceful message of the Holy Quran with new Muslims, the Islamic Information Centre (IIC) of Dubai and the Dar Al Ber Society are launching the Quran and Sunnah Memorisation Competition 2018 for new Muslims and children of new Muslims.
For the third year running, the competition offers a platform for new Muslims who have converted within the last 15 years to memorise the beautiful words of Allah.
The competition, open for both men and women, recently introduced 'children' and 'Sunnah' category. The competition has dedicated training weeks with full training programmes for participants to improvise their pronunciation and memorisation. It is also offering round the clock support for participants to provide assistance in registration. The first two rounds are online and easy to submit the recordings. The first prize winners will win Umrah trips and there are also cash prizes that can be won.
The competition witnessed over 100 participants in the first year, which grew by 100 per cent in the next year where over 28 nationalities joined the competition. Over a period of two years more than 90 finalists won Umrah trips and cash prizes worth Dh80,000.
Rashid Al Junaibi, director of IIC Dubai, said: "We observed that new Muslims have a special attachment with the Holy Quran and that it is usually one of the reasons for their guidance to the path of peace. Hence, we launched this initiative, aimed at encouraging the growing population of new Muslims in the UAE."
The registrations are open until October 31, and the IIC has already registered hundreds of men, women and children. The centre is hoping that this year they will break the record of last years registrations.
The training sessions will take off from November 10 at the IIC branch in Al Satwa and the final round will be held on January 18 at the Dar Al Ber society headquarters on the Sheikh Zayed Road. The results will be announced on January 22, 2019. For more details visit www.islamicic.com/quran
