New uniform for school bus drivers, supervisors

The Executive School Transport Committee in Abu Dhabi Introduces a new uniform for school bus escorts and drivers this academic year.

The new uniform, which takes after the colour of the school buses, is part of the implementation of new school transport legislation aimed at raising school transport standards to the highest levels.

The statement from the committee on Tuesday said that this comes through close and productive cooperation among all committee members — the Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Police, Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi Educational Council, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Al Ain Municipality and the Emirates Driving School — and in accordance with the Surface Transport Master Plan (STMP) in Abu Dhabi.

“The new uniform is in line with enhancement efforts of the overall school transport experience. It helps identify staff, relays discipline and trust between the students and their parents on one hand, and the school transport service providers on the other. It is designed with practicality in mind, to combine both professional image and functional comfort,” the statement added.

The Executive School Transport Committee in Abu Dhabi was established with a federal mandate in 2013 issued by Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to improve and develop the integrated system for school transport with the objective of implementing school transport legislations throughout the UAE.

The development of the integrated system for school transport will occur in two phases: the first phase will be in Abu Dhabi emirate and the second phase will cover the rest of the emirates.
