"The vision for the new library is to become a leading centre for research and knowledge in the region. Establishing a separate library on campus further strengthens the university's role as a premier institution of higher learning in the Middle East," said Dr Winfred Thompson, Chancellor of AUS.

With an area of over 10,000 square metres, the new three-storey library has been constructed on the orders of the Ruler of Sharjah as part of the university's continuous expansion plans.

Dr Shaikh Sultan will be given a tour of the new facility on the occasion as well as attending a small exhibition arranged on the premises. Government officials along with members of the AUS board of trustees and other senior AUS officials will also attend the opening ceremony.
